Allergy Clinic
Allergies are the most common chronic condition worldwide. An exaggerated response in the form of cough, sneezing, running nose, abdominal pain, diarrhea, retching, vomiting, skin rashes, itching, watery eyes and wheezing. In some individuals it can lead to even anaphylaxis and death. 60 to 80% of asthmatic patients have an underlying cause of allergy to some environmental allergens. Allergies are classified as allergic Rhinitis, Allergic Conjunctivitis, Allergic Bronchitis (mislabeled as Asthma), Urticaria (Hives), Food allergies, Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) and anaphylaxis. Allergies are diagnosed by both skin test and lab test. Skin test are done using extract of allergens to be instilled into the superficial layer of the skin with the help of lancets. The results are recorded within 15-20 minutes. Blood test are also done. Here at Dr Gupta’s Multispecialty clinic, a dedicated allergy clinic is run on every Friday. Patients of all age groups are evaluated and investigated with blood test as well as skin prick test (SPT) by internationally approved allergens.
